Vignerons Schmölzer and Brown 2024 Prêt-À-Blanc

Notes from VS+B:
Pinot gris (35%) Riesling (34%) Sauv Blanc (17%) Sylvaner (14%). This wine sees us continue our exploration of the Gemischter Satz style of dry, refreshing white blends originally grown and made around Vienna in Austria. The Austrian style typically contains as many as ten or eleven varieties as a field blend, which is intended to mitigate viticultural risk. This little cool breeze boasts a mere four: Pinot gris, Sauvignon blanc, Sylvaner and Riesling and is from several upper King Valley sites. However insofar as it’s utterly refreshing, crisp and brightly fruited, we hope we’ve respected the traditional style admirably. It’s a clean slosh of green apple, pod peas, soft florals and grassy herbage, with a zingy and crisp palate.
