San Baltazar Mezcal

San Baltazar has an altitude of 4100 feet and is rolling hilly countryside.
The soils are light (calciferous) and rocky. Alipus mezcal first began in 1999 as a "social impact project" with the aim of supporting traditional mezcal producers and their lands in several regions in Oaxaca, Mexico. That has now grown to an amazing 9 independent producers in the state, all of which contribute to the development of their respective rural economies.
